We often work on residential projects; this
modern, contemporary design sits on a row
of jaunty seaside houses with an art deco
aesthetic.
For “The Pooley House”, the client required the architect, John
Pardey, to concentrate on the first-floor aspect to exploit the
extensive sea view. This has been achieved by using a cedarclad
box that straddles a masonry base, accommodating the
open-plan living space and a combined outdoor deck.
Our Basic 1 external wall insulation system was chosen by the
architect to ensure a robust and weatherproof finish to the
ground floor construction, ensuring high values of thermal
efficiency and protection from the coastal weather. The Basic 1
system was specified with 120mm-thick expanded polystyrene
insulation with a white Silitect T1.5mm finish. The architect
worked closely with Chichester Harbour Conservancy and the
Environment Agency to ensure the design was sympathetic to
its coastal surroundings.
The fine finish provided by the
Silitect coating ensured the exact
look we wanted to achieve for
this project and more importantly
offered great weathering
properties, vital for this coastal
location. alsecco also gave
excellent technical support
throughout the project
Our Basic 1 external wall insulation system is waterrepellent,
as well as offering outstanding weathering and
durability. This is particularly important for a property
situated on the seafront. The system also provides an
excellent range of textures, colours and finishes and is
excellent for detailing, creating a professional design overall.
