Our high-performance products were utilised to
revamp this tired and failing façade. The coming
together of technology provided a professional,
unique finish.
Specified by architects, Bickerdike Allen, our external wall
insulation was chosen for a refurbishment at Norway Wharf in
Limehouse, east London. This residential building required a new
façade due to the failing existing system and the Basic 1 and Basic
4 systems were identified as being the perfect solution. The system
enabled the project to remain in keeping with existing planning
consent.
In total, 1200sq metres of our product was used in the scheme for
the clients, Galliard Homes. The combination of the Basic 1 and
Basic 4 systems allowed the architect to create interest to the
building’s façade by having different textures in different areas,
creating a more attractive and modern finish. We colourmatched
the brick slips from a colour swatch provided by the
architect and specially manufactured these for this project.
alsecco provided excellent
design and technical support
throughout the project and
their expertise was vital when
ensuring the correct insulation
levels were maintained
when combining the existing
structure and the new façade
The combination of our FS system using Basic 1 and Basic
4 is approved by the NHBC, which was an advantage to this
project, especially as the original system had failed. Working
with an existing building can be challenging, but our systems
are specifically designed with that in mind and ensure a
professional finish.
Our Basic 1 system is a high-performance, thin coat render
system, which has an excellent range of textures, colours and
finishes. The Basic 4 system is conversely a thick coat render
system that can be faced with brick slips as in this project or
architectural ceramic tiles. Both systems are water-repellent,
enable a consistent finish and have excellent weathering and
durability characteristics.
