We often get asked to work on university projects, and were very pleased with the results achieved at Aston Student Village in Birmingham
The Aston Student Village project was a £215 million scheme that aimed to transform the standard of student living at Aston University by providing 2,400 brand new rooms, all with en-suite facilities. Lewis & Hickey Architects chose to integrate our Ecomin external wall insulation into their high-specification designs.
It was an ambitious project given the scale and the vast number of students living on campus. However, it was also important that we could help boost their accommodation through our systems. The university was keen to offer students quality, well-maintained
rooms
The standard of the workmanship has been extremely high with the project being delivered to the complete satisfaction of the main contractor and client.
To date, we have installed approximately 5000m2 of Ecomin 300 system in the development of the Student Village. This has ensured the accommodation blocks are highly thermally-efficient. They also boast increased fire resistance, high impact resistance, excellent weathering durability, a consistent finish, and vapour permeability. On top of this, they are water-repellent.
Our multi-layered Ecomin 300 system incorporates mineral wool insulation, which offers a high level of fire resistance (combustibility class A2). On an aesthetic level, it can be used in conjunction with a wide variety of finishes, textures and colours for a professional, sleek finish.
