Our projects are versatile and this was no
exception. We were thrilled to support
Chiltern Railways with their development
of the first new rail link between a major
British city and London in over 100 years.
Chiltern Railways launched the first new rail link between
a major British city and London in over 100 years and built
two new stations – Bicester Village and Oxford Parkway.
Our external wall insulation system with a ceramic slip and
render finish was specified by CJCT Architects for the iconic
station façades.
Our Basic 4 system was chosen due to its ability to
realise the curve of the feature glazed brick slip wall,
whilst also achieving a watertight building early in the
construction process through the use of a Fermacell
cement particle board.
Throughout the project, alsecco
maintained high levels of customer
service and were extremely helpful
and forthcoming with design advice
and technical support. alsecco was
able to source tiles of the specific
blue needed and produced sample
panels to demonstrate the quality of
the system for client presentations.
We were asked to colour match the slips to the corporate
blue of Chiltern Railways and sample panels were produced
for the client for approval. This was achieved for both
stations, providing a result that the client was very pleased
with. It had a striking visual appearance that is also
effective in its coverage of the building. It has given the
buildings a contemporary feel with notes of the railway’s
prestigious history
The ceramic tile finish of our Basic 4 external wall insulation
system ensures an extremely durable and mechanically
very strong façade. The system is also easy to keep clean
- all vital benefits in such high traffic areas as required for
railway station projects.
