Using our external wall insulation, we were able to
transform a former hotel building close to WestonSuper-Mare
seafront that had fallen into a state of
disrepair.
In order to revamp the former Dorville Hotel building and its adjacent
annexe, which had both become derelict, we used our external wall
insulation to create a clean and contemporary thermally-efficient render
finish.
The former hotel building was greatly detracting from the character and
appearance of this conservation area due to its state of disrepair. The
appointed main architect of the scheme was Ascent Architecture, who
place sustainability and reduced energy usage as fundamental to their
approach.
This project was
a great chance
to showcase the
instant difference
our high-quality
insulation can make
to a building.
The developer, Sustainable Britain Ltd, a division of the Connolly and
Callaghan Group, wanted to specify an external wall
insulation system that could guarantee thermal efficiency
whilst also giving the whole building a complete facelift. This
is why our Basic 1 wall insulation was chosen, along with
expanded polystyrene insulation.
Not only is it the most cost-effective solution, but it is
also proven technology that guarantees reliable protection
and crack-resistance. It gives refurbishment and new build
projects alike high levels of reinforcement. It also has
excellent weathering characteristics and is available in a wide
variety of finishes.
