The system was chosen by Darnton EGS
Architects for its excellent durability and
thermal qualities, combined with the visual
modern architectural design required by
the client.
alsecco Airtec innovative Airtec glass system was specified
for the refurbishment of the flagship M&S Store at Gemini
Park in Warrington. The Airtec glass panels were installed to
the building’s vertical ventilated façade sections and balcony
soffits, providing a dramatic and sophisticated finish.
The M&S Gemini Park project was a complex re-model and
extension of this flagship store. The main entrance was a
key part of the new extension area and received a complete
façade change with the installation of the Airtec glass
system. The high glass curtain walling and specialist finish
“timber effect” cladding panels frame the elevation and the
café balcony above.
This is the client’s largest store
outside London and the design
needed to reflect the store’s
high-profile image. Our client had
specified black glass to give the
required overall finished look;
alsecco could offer this particular
specification which made their
system the natural choice.
The system also has optimal energy efficiency qualities,
which was a major influence in the product selection. It
was vital that project design and delivery remained in line
with Marks & Spencer’s Plan A, targeted to achieve energy
efficient sustainable end results.
Combining the unique qualities of glass with the innovative
technology of the ventilated curtain façade, the Airtec glass
system is extremely tough and resilient and is held in place
by concealed clip-type fixings. This provides a perfect fit and
ensures a high-quality, timeless, modern finish.
